I have not been blogging as much as I promised at the beginning of the year. I apologize but I thought I would give you an update on my progress with the business and me. I have mentioned before that I am getting my MBA. The class that I am taking now is a lot of writing so when I am done with school work I honestly don’t feel like writing. My job has also changed how we work and I am in front of the computer more and in my car a lot more which has been an adjustment. I realize that some nights my eyes are on fire and I can’t bear to look at a computer. After 8 hours at work and 4 to 6 hours on my school work blogging gets pushed to the side. But I have figured out a way for my eyes not to hurt so bad. If I work in a dimly lite room it is less stress on my eyes.
Although work and school have been a lot more demanding I have been working on the business plan. I have pricing for my products, equipment, coffee and rent on a potential location. When I tell you, this girl is serious about this coffee shop. I also believe I found the coffee distributor that I will work with. I meant with them in March and everyone was nice. The owner of the company was there and made his self-available if I had any questions. I was able to see coffee being roasted, packaged, labels, and even how flavor coffee is made which was cool because I had no idea. But let talk about the product. The product coffee was good it is a local Maryland based coffee roastery. After going coffee fest I have found that there is a lot of coffee roastery that is here in Maryland. Now that I have all this data it time for me to figure out how much money I will need. Will I need a loan from the bank, a silent partner or an investor? These are the questions that I am asking myself now. I am not sure where this will take me but I know that this process has been a learning expertness.
Starting this process, I truly believed that I was going walk in the bank get a loan and it was going come together in no time. I could have done that but I would probably already be out of business. I am not putting a time from on this process because things will happen. There will be ups and downs and I will learn from both. But I wanted you all to know that I have been working and I have not given up on my dream of owning a coffee shop. I am going be black Starbucks on every corner take all your money.
