I have been seeing the word matcha and pictures of a green drink on all the coffee websites. I stop in Starbucks the other day and decided to try Matcha. I ask the cashier he cashier what he thought of the drink and he told me that it was okay but he didn’t love it. I decided to try the hot Matcha Latte. I took a sip of it and I did not like it. It wasn’t nasty but it wasn’t good either. I decided to keep the drink and finish it to get the true taste of it. It was ok I don’t know if I will try it again. As I was drinking it I realized that I had no idea what matcha was and why it is so popular right now. So, I decided to find out more about this new drink.
What is Matcha
Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. I am not a green tea lover so I am pretty sure that is the main reason why I didn’t like the Matcha. I don’t drink green too often and when I do it is normally flavored green tea. Once I realized it was green tea in it I could taste it. It tastes like Chinese green tea, not the watery tea that is mainly sold here.
Matcha also has a lot of health benefits that I learned about during my research. One of the main benefits is that it is high in antioxidants. Another major benefit is catechins, which offers cancer-fighting properties. Matcha also aids in calming; Coffee actually has the opposite effect of Matcha. Coffee is not good if you have anxiety. So, for a person like me who suffer from anxiety, I shouldn’t drink coffee as much as I do. Matcha boosts concentration, memory and it also detoxifies your body.
Okay so after finding out the benefits of matcha I am willing to try it again. It is really good for you so now I understand why it is so popular. It is really good for your health and it doesn’t have caffeine in it. If you have tried matcha please let me know what you think of it.
